Scripture for the Day

December 10, 2007

VERSE: Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what dorighteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship canlight have with darkness? -- 2 Corinthians 6:14 http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=2+Corinthians+6:14

THOUGHT: There is probably no other Scripture that has produced moreconflict for ministers than this one. While not applying just tomarriage, this verse is a powerful reminder that when we makelife-long partnerships with those who do not share our deepestvalues, we are endangering our spiritual health. Just as God wouldnot allow the Israelites under the Law to yoke a donkey and an oxtogether because it would ultimately break them both down, Paulreminds Christians that the same is true in their deepestrelationships as well.+

PRAYER: Father God, I know your will is not arbitrary. I know you wantwhat is best for me. So please give me wisdom as I choose mypartners and my closest friends. Help us to help each other livefor you and share your blessings and grace. Help us to influenceothers to come to know you, your mercy, and your salvation morecompletely. In Jesus' name. Amen.http://www.heartlight.org/cgi-shl/todaysverse.cgi?day=20071210Today's Verse is also available in:PORTUGUESE - http://www.iluminalma.com.br/dph/2/1210.html
